Irina Rozovsky is a Russian-born American artist
Episode 530: I was incredibly fortunate to sit down with esteemed artist Irina Rozovsky to speak about her incredible new book, Mountain Black Heart, published recently by MACK.
This is our second conversation, and my interest in the photobook has waned slightly as I look elsewhere for personal inspiration. I was fortunate to receive this book along with Jerry Hsu’s recent book, also published by MACK, and I don’t mind saying both have rekindled my interest in the medium. I believe Irina’s book is a defining one, and I am more than happy to help spread the love for it.
The conversation turned to Irina’s trips through the Balkans, which inspired Mountain Black Heart. It is an incredibly interesting region and remains topical as we speak. Throughout our conversation, we recount our experiences in the Balkans and delve into Irina’s time there and how the work came to be. It was a great conversation and frankly quite a bit of fun. Please tune in and pick up the book; it is fantastic!
