Martin Bollati is an Argentinian artist

Episode 398: Martin Bollati joins me to speak about his work and new book, Hermes/Unesco. This incredible collection of objects appears to be symbols of cultural heritage at first glance but, after further examination, reveals their true technological nature.

Using AI, the artist has created an incredible catalog of objects that question the significance of image proliferation in the nascent AI period. As artificial intelligence infiltrates our cultural landscape, many questions regarding the nature of meaning and image are coming into focus, with many questions posed. We discussed the work in the episode, but also took time to go through Martin’s other fine books which deal with similar concepts, but also include questions regarding text and image. At the foundation of Martin’s work is a strong passion and commitment to speak through history in a clever way which ties the past to the present and creates new discussions. Please Tune In!!
