Janet Delaney is an American photographer

Episode 488: Janet Delaney and I meet to catch up on her recent book, Too Many Products Too Much Pressure, published by the fantastic team at Deadbeat Club.

Throughout our conversation, Janet and I spoke about her book and her relationship with her father, a beauty product salesman, whom Janet shadowed very early in her career. We talked about their relationship, the implications of her father’s job, and the American social and economic landscape of the time.

Further to our conversation regarding her new book, we also spoke a little about her work/book, Public Matters, and her work around San Francisco, which culminated in her South of Market series. We also spoke about her installation work. Throughout, my takeaway of Janey and her work is a fascinating connection to her father through his work, but also her nascent beginnings in photography. I also found her commitment to the social geography of San Francisco to be intriguing. Please listen in!
