Linn Phyllis Seeger a is a German artist working in London
Episode 154: This was possibly one of the most fun episodes to record in terms of the back and forth between myself and an artist that I have had. The searing and bleak humor that Linn Phyllis Seeger and I employed throughout will mean that this will go down as one of my favorite episodes for some time.
In the episode Linn and I spoke about her new book You I Everything Else published by Skinnerboox. Linn describes herself as a Cloud-Based Artist. I am still not 100% of what that means and I believe that I have met her in person before, but I can no longer be sure it wasn’t part of something more lucid, simulation-like in my memory. Perhaps Linn, like a vapor, only exists in dissipation of a material value.
None the less, her book does exist and it is quite fascinating. Ostensibly, it is a book about relationships, distance and longing in the age of rampant technological advance. Perhaps it is also about the exact inverse of those very notions catering to a skepticism of everything coded and binary. 10011010110110111 etc. It “reads” in places like a dis-assembled manual of technoglyphs-a social media set of communication standards that are at once obtuse and understood.
In the episode, we speak about Linn’s work and the book, but also a number of other circulating ideas about AI, chatbots, neural implants and all the charms of the techno-sublime that is in store for the citizens of the 21st Century. It was an expansive and rambling conversation full of humor given the dystopian discussion and You I Everything Else. Tune-In, Chip-In etc.
