Geri Moseid is a Norwegian artist
Episode 403: Geir Moseid is a Norwegian artist whose books Plucked and, more recently, Our Other Room are beautifully melancholic attempts at discussing the value and sometimes doldrums of domestic life.
Whereas there is a tradition of domestic life, and family has a long history within the medium of the photobook, Geir’s work is unique as it elicits a sense of the documentary but is charged by a deep and passionate subjectivity that counters simple observation. His color palette and nearly cinematic editing genius make the books special.
In this episode, we spoke about the process of Geir’s work and his background, and we took a few forays into speaking about cinema throughout the episode. As a topic, cinema has quite a bit of useful anecdotes which we crossed with photography to have a more rounded discussion about Geir’s background. I deeply appreciate his humor and also his memory as a listener of the podcast. Please tune into this long format conversation.
