Lana Mesić is a Croatian artist living in the Netherlands

Episode 404: Lana Mesić is a Croatian artist who lives in The Netherlands. The Eriskay Connection has expertly published her new book When You Point a Finger, Three Are Pointing Back.

In the episode, Lana and I spoke about her background and the history which informs her book. As complicated as her upbringing was with multiple moves, her ability to recall, understand, and contextualize the 1990s and the Croatian call and war of independence is commendable. We spoke at length about The Balkans, Tito, and how her work and book came to be. The book is a fascinating foray between the worlds of archive, cinema, and experimental treatise.

Not limited to photography, but also the photographic, the book explores alternative ways to imagine editing. We spoke briefly about Michael Snow’s Cover to Cover and how her and the team at The Eriskay Connection strategized to make the wonderful book that they have. Please tune in.
