Episode 415: Anna Breit joins me to discuss her new book, Look Book-01, published by Fotohof in Austria.

The book, as one might elicit from the title, is an investigation into portraiture that reflects the cataloging of faces in a manner that assimilates fashion but simultaneously denies its direct correlation utilizing a subversive sequence undergirding and use of digital noise, which misdirects from the intention of a Lookbook that contains models for the perusal of photographers and fashion companies-dogs turn up, their retinas are blown out from flash and the world Ann creates becomes something altogether different, surreal.

Throughout the conversation, we spoke about Anna’s motivations in making the work and other works and books that she has made. We spoke about her collaboration with her mother and her general outlook on producing work. Look Book-01 is a fantastic read into territory between commercial and art worlds, crossing the two into a cohesive structure full of promise. Will there be a second volume? Only time will tell…
