Matt Martin is a British artist, bookmaker, and curator/director at the Photobook Cafe in London

Episode 416: Matt Martin is a photobook maker, artist, enthusiast, and curator, and has at one point managed galleries as well as the Photobook Cafe in London. Matt was a gem to speak with, an all-around staple of the photography community.

I remain fascinated by people like Matt, who give back to the community voluminously. When he isn’t working at galleries, the Photobook Cafe, or in another venture, he is passionately spreading the good word about photobooks, zines, and photography in general. Matt is a rare bird who produces his own work in a dedicated and meaningful manner, yet spends the lion’s share of his time also supporting the community with less reward than he is due. You have to see people like Matt for the good they spread in relation to our medium. This is reflected in his many projects including the Photocopyclub.

In the episode, we spoke about the many hats that Matt has worn and continues to wear in photography. We spoke about his beginnings and how het got his start. We spoke about his work from American Xerography to his most recent books Gravel Circle, Floating View Naoshima, and his newest books Mustard and Archive 01 though most of our focus was on everything up to the Naoshima title. Please Tune In and support Matt in his future endeavors!
