André Penteado is A Brazilian artist, educator, and bookmaker
Episode 471: André Penteado, an incredible Brazilian artist and bookmaker, joins me to speak about his work.

This is episode 1 of 2 that I will be releasing. André has quite a bit of work, so we decided to split the episode into two parts: the earlier and more recent work. Look for the follow-up episode to be published soon. For this episode, we discussed André’s background in studying economics, his move to London, and his transition into photography, where he learned the ropes as a wedding photographer and honed his technical skills in various environments. We then spoke about work made in London and the change in André’s work when his father passed away by suicide.
This moment led André to develop both Dad’s Suicide and I Am Not Alone. Both of these projects deal with loss and mourning, and were eventually published as books as part of the artist’s practice, but also as a way to process the loss of his father. We discuss all of this, including André’s early days and time in London. Please Tune in!
