Julien Langendorff is a French artist

Episode 489: Julien Langendorff is a French artist whose intricate, and often psychedelic and esoteric collages are incredible. Having picked up his book Black Mirrors when it came out over a decade ago, I have been following Julien’s work with curiosity.

In our conversation, we spoke about Julien’s collage work and practice, as well as his history with exhibitions, book-making, and music. We also talked a little bit about the cultural context of our backgrounds, which may or may not have colluded to bring esoteric tendencies and occult art into our conversation.

What I admire about Julien’s work is his use of source material drawn from the fascinating period of the 70s and 80s, and, further to that point, from vintage magazines and books related to witchcraft and the occult. This source material is repurposed into Julien’s mystical works. Please listen in. In many ways, I feel like Julien is kin with our shared interests and aesthetic choices. Get his latest books from his website. Spell Rider is available now.
