Emmanuel Coupe-Kalomiris Is a Greek/French photographer working in Athens
Episode 279: Emmanuel “Manolis” Coupe-Kalomiris is a Greek/French photographer living and working in Athens.
“Exposures” brings new artists to the Nearest Truth audience from our subscriber base. These artists have supported NT through their economic contributions and are gifted individuals working in the medium of photography. Oftentimes, our supporters are well-known and have been working in the field consistently. We simply want to say thank you and help in any way possible to get their message out. I appreciate the support of these individuals and I hope in this small effort that I can repay the support.
I first met Manolis a few years ago at a Todd Hido workshop organized between American Suburb X and VOID in Athens. I remember the due diligence he gave the workshop and how his questions brought out quite a bit of information for the benefit of the other participants. We kept in touch and I watched his work change and transform to become the work that it is today. Manolis has quite a bit of work and is well-heeled. His newest work is more localized and comes from intense scrutiny of how images function as a collaboration and the work has in-depth points of departure from traditional ways of making images. I won’t divulge too much here as it is worth keeping some mystery for the listeners to delve into.
Since our meeting with Todd, Manolis and I have worked together a few times here in Athens for the Nearest Truth Workshops. He has assisted me with workshops with Raymond Meeks and Dirk Braeckman amongst others and his constant thinking through the process of photography and his handling of the participants have been incredibly helpful. On top of all of this, he is also a Nearest Truth listener and patron. I am fortunate to work with him and to watch his progress in making images. Please tune in to this episode. Manolis makes excellent work and he is an incredibly and positively obsessive lover of the medium.
