Episode 439: Julian Sander is a German-American art dealer based in Cologne whose great-grandfather is August Sander, the noted German artist whose work is as crucial now as it was during the first decades of the Twentieth Century when it was made.
I had the pleasure of meeting Julian some years ago when he was running a different gallery. I found him kind, knowledgeable, and refreshing in the world of dealing, which can sometimes be filled with difficult or arrogant people. Julian was friendly and a joy to speak with, as evidenced in our conversations.
Julian and I rekindled our conversation for this podcast recently. It was an incredibly honest, open, and engaging conversation. We spoke about his background growing up in America.
