Vic Bakin is a Ukrainian artist

Episode 474: Vic Bakin is a Ukrainian artist whose recent book Epistome was published by Void. The book explores masculinity, war, and landscape in a highly lyrical and somber form. There is a fantastic video about Vic and his work on Nowness by Greg Bushell.

I had a phenomenal conversation with Vic. Not knowing what to expect at all when speaking with Vic, I found the conversation entirely engaging and informative. Of course, we discussed the war, but we extended the dialogue well beyond this topic, concentrating on photobooks, history, and Vic’s other projects. In fact, the conversation felt very intimate and close.

Please listen to our conversation. Vic is a wealth of knowledge and a profoundly talented artist with a profound understanding of the medium of photography. Despite the difficulties of the war, he persists in inspiring art to be made at all costs. Tune In!
