Marcella Legrand Marer is a Brazilian curator
Episode 475: Marcella Legrand Marer and I took a moment to discuss her contribution to the Rencontres d’Arles Exhibition, Brazilian Modernist Photography (1939–1964), and the resulting catalog produced by my eminent publisher, Atelier EXB.

José Yalenti (Brazilian, 1895-1967)
Our conversation centered on the themes of mid-century Brazilian photography, from its emergence from local fotoclubs to the rising tides of modernism that the state of Brazil became entwined with through municipal building and architecture. We also spoke at length about the terminal issue of boy’s club status of many of the recorded photographic artists of the times. There is much to discuss, and I thoroughly suggest listening in, but also picking up the exceptional catalog for the exhibition.
