Lars Duchateau is a Belgian artist
Episode 520: Lars Duchateau, friend of the show, is a young Belgian artist and pancakes fanatic whose new book, Limburg, recently published by The Eriskay Connection, pits the artist’s beautifully sublime photographs against texts culled from local newspapers in the Belgian city of Limburg.

During our episode, we spoke about Duchateau’s work and how this (technically second) offering of Limburg came into being, with its tactile cover and its new take on the artist’s images pitted against the textual illustrations of various goings-on in and around Limburg. We spoke about Lars’s background with photography and his studies.

We spoke about common friends and interests, and how Lars goes about making images in the same geography until completion. There was quite a bit of discussion about familiarity and how one comes to make a durational work. We also spoke about Guido Guidi and Joachim Brohm, amongst other great artists.
