J.H. Engström is a Swedish/French artist
Episode 487: J.H. Engström and I return for our second conversation regarding his new book Dimma Brume Mist, published recently by VOID.

J.H. is someone whose vision and working process I hold with exceptionally high regard. I am lucky in that I have had several discussions with him and have several of his books. What draws me to his work is the honesty at its core, along with his work ethic, which is significant, having published over twenty books, and continues to find new ways to express his creativity through painting, filmmaking, and writing.

In our episode, we discuss the organization of archives, painting, and how to remain creative as time marches forward. The new book is an interesting take on the archive, as it comprises all unseen material scanned from contact sheets that show abrasions, marks, and dust, all part of the skin of time’s passing. It was a great conversation. I am pleased with the moment when we speak about fear, anxiety, and painting. Please tune in and pick up the book as they will likely sell out before long.
