Episode 515: Anthony Gerace joins me to speak about his recent book, Frances, or Something Similar, published by Tang Deng Books.
This conversation felt incredibly familiar. Having met Anthony before and having some working idea that many of our influences and concerns would crossover once we began, this knowledge did not prepare me for the geek-out session that set the episode off, which, of course, related to our shared love of not only art but specifically music.
Anthony works deftly in collage and has made some incredible work, some of which, in editorial matters, are exceptional political works in the manner of a contemporary Heartfield. With this said, he is also a talented photographer and designer, and many of these matters find their way into his new book, which groans under the weight of his incredible work.
