Mark Steinmetz is an American artist

Mark Steinmetz is back in conversation to spend some time speaking about his new book Berlin Pictures published by Kominek Books.

This is the second conversation that I have had the pleasure of speaking with Mark about his excellent work. Both he and I have made books about Berlin, so it was fascinating to hear his take on photographing in the city and discussing some of our experiences. I had questions for him and how he approached the city as it is a very particular place.

Berlin Pictures is one of my favorite books by Mark so far. Though he has made work and books outside of America before, it is refreshing to see his aesthetic applied to a city that can often times read as cold and impersonal. Instead, Mark’s book of pictures teems with life and intimacy while still capturing the city and its history. Please tune in to hear us discuss the work.
