Ruben Lundgren is an Artist and Curator
Episode 519: Absolute legend Ruben Lundgren and I finally sit down to get to know each other despite having moved in the same circles for years. He is also very tall, but that is not a job title. This was an absolute blast.

Ruben is formerly one-half of the incredible WassinkLundgren duo and is now a senior curator at Fotomuseum Den Haag, where his years of experience in Europe and China will no doubt help keep the museum’s vision fresh. This conversation was a huge pleasure. We discussed Ruben’s new book, a not retrospective book, mind you, Flowers in the Mirror, published by the great Eriskay Connection.

Ruben has had a fascinating life. We spoke about him taking chances at a young age to go to China, and seek out a completely different life than in his native Netherlands. It reminds one that risks must be taken to achieve memorable outcomes. We spoke about the experience of it all, about coming out, and about his new role at the museum, and what that means for his art practice. It was a conversation that I had wanted to have for a long time. Please Tune In
