Manuel Osterholt is a German artist

Episode 321: Manuel Osterholt is a photographer living and working in Berlin. His new book Chasing My Shadow Through Time and Space, was recently self-published.

I had the fantastic opportunity to meet with Manuel this autumn in Berlin, though we had already established a connection slightly beforehand regarding his excellent new book. Meeting with Manuel, an unassuming and well-spoken artist was fascinating. It was not only to meet and speak with the artist behind a powerful book but also because it gave me some insight into the maker’s background. In this case, learning about Manuel’s travels and working towards making the book was interesting. It was also interesting to find out about Manuel’s alternate ego Superblast a well-placed and known entity in the urban graffiti world stretching back to the 80s and 90s-a pioneer!

In the episode, we spoke about the ideas behind making the book, but also about the idea of street photography and how the term is interpreted in a more fresh context relegated to contemporary image-making. We spoke about Manuel’s background growing up in Germany and what influenced his move to graffiti early on. Please Tune In, and if you can find a copy of Manuel’s book, please try to track one down!
