Cornelia Pierce is an Austrian artis living in America
Episode 451: Cornelia Pierce joins me to speak about Nachtmeer, her recent book published with Nearest Truth Editions. So, of course, I am partial to her and her work.
I believe that with Giulia Boccarossa, the designer, we established Nachtmeer as a true force in the form of a photobook. It is beautiful, haunting, and beautifully printed. It is accompanied by a soundtrack from Troy Pierce, an incredible electronic musician (and Cornelia’s husband), whom I strangely knew about before working with Cornelia on the book. I am a huge fan of the work, if it were not obvious.
Throughout the episode we spoke about the process of putting the book together, but also Cornelia’s background growing up in Austria and how she came to photography, something I oddly had minimal idea about, so it was great to catch up with her on artists like Nan Goldin, philosophers like Julia Kristeva, and some of our other crossover influence. Nachtmeer is a special book. Please tune in, and please pick up a copy of the book.
