Episode 508: Florian Rainer is an Austrian artist whose recent book Tagada explores the chaotic, youthful magic of Vienna’s Prater park ride, which serves as both an amusement park and a social meeting space.
Through the conversation, Florian and I spoke about his attraction to The Prater and the images he made over the course of a summer. The ride itself is a fantastic meeting place for young adults, some of whom want to play with the ride’s gravitational aspects, while others go to be seen by their peers. Rainer’s images reflect this in a swirling and saturated cacophony of color and chaos.
