Olivia Arthur is a British artist
Episode 453: Magnum photographer Olivia Arthur joins me to speak about her new photobook, Murmurings of the Skin, recently published by VOID.
During our second conversation, Olivia and I discussed what Murmuring of the Skin is and what it is not. On a surface glance, the book presents as a discussion of photography and technology. While this is not untrue, the whole subject matter is more expansive. Underneath the face-value reading of the book are broader discussions regarding motherhood, touch, and strength of character. There is a universal humanism at the base of the work, and we discuss this and other topics relative to understanding the post-pandemic moment.
The conversation was illuminating, and I greatly enjoyed Olivia’s candor and the discussion regarding the book. Please tune in!
