Ron Jude is an American artist working in photography.

Episode 68: This episode is special for me. Ron Jude is one of the artists whose work changed the way I look at photography. It started with his book Lago (MACK, 2015) and has continued both retroactively and with new books such as 12 Hz, which has just been released by MACK.

What draws me to Ron’s work is his ability to consider each body of work as separate. There are stylistic choices in a number of projects that act as a thread in which it I am able to discern the work as Ron’s, but the subject matter varies. It has been a pleasure to watch each successive body of work grow and mutate into something fresh and new with the conceptual framework exceeding expectations.

I caught up with Ron to speak with him about the new book and his work in general. It was a lively conversation and one that I hope to return to in the future with new books and projects. We spoke about education, deep time and geology among other things.
